Since inaugurated as president in 2010, the 77-year-old politician worthy of the title of the world’s poorest president.

As president José Alberto Mujica Cordano is donating 90 percent of his salary each month, which is 12,000 U.S. dollars, or about Rp 120 million for various charities. Not only that, the man who have friendly called Pepe also refused to stay at the official presidential residence in the capital, Montevideo. Mujica prefer to live in a farm outside the capital. With the road has not been asphalted.

There is no elite presidential guard troops. Only two police officers and a dog with only three legs, Manuela, which supervises at the entrance to the farm. In agriculture, Mujica and his wife even grow their own flowers into income for him. What is the reason Mujica choose a simple life even though his post was a president?

By donating part of his salary as president for the poor and small businesses, then every month Mujica only receive less than $ 1200.

In 2010, when his personal wealth was announced-that is the duty of public officials Uruguay, at the time total wealth of Mujika is only U.S. $ 1,000 or less than Rp. 10 million. That kind of money can only be used to purchase a 1987 VW Beetle output.

His net worth 215 000 U.S. dollars, or about Rp. 2 billion, is relatively poor for a head of state.
