Customer Satisfaction is Bending Over Backwards

Global markets, consumer diversity and environmental sustainability are some of the key forces driving the continual evolution of the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry. Consolidation, diversity and changing consumer preferences, increasing government regulations, and energy and raw material costs, combined with the need for corporate and social responsibility, are impacting manufacturing and business strategies. In this fiercely competitive marketplace, companies must offer an ever widening breadth of products to help meet consumer demand. At the same time manufacturers must consistency and cost effectively achieve optimum levels of quality in their products.

Need Flexible and Agile Manufacturing

We live in a mass customized society – one in which consumers want it their way, with the quality and cost levels they’ve come to expect from mass produced goods. This is creating great pressure on CPG manufacturers, who have the difficult task of meeting the ongoing evolution of consumer demand. Today’s consumers run the gamut – from those who want healthier choices or more convenient packaging and unique flavors, to those who look at the label to see if the product is helping sustain of fragile environment.

In response manufacturer are creating new items and extending existing brand lines in hopes of creating the next “hot” product. When they do, they don’t expect to stay “hot” for very long. Gone are the days of “secret formulas” that are locked in a vault, and go unchanged – for 100 years. Personalized products, whether it is food, beverage or cosmetics, are already beginning to reach CPG companies portfolios.
